"Devo ammetterlo, il Madison Square Garden ha sempre un effetto speciale sul mio rendimento. Sì, è il mio stadio favorito. L'ultima volta che ero venuto qua non avevo giocato tanto bene. Stavolta volevo riscattarmi. Tutte quelle celebrità in prima fila, il calore del pubblico, l'intensità della partita. Se potessi, giocherei sempre dentro al magnifico Madison"
Maybe it's because it is in one of the most famous cities in the world, or maybe it's because unbelievable performances of the greatest athletes ( Michael Jordan's 55 points game 9 days after his return in the NBA or Kobe Bryant's 61 points game ... ) took place on its parquet, or maybe it's because the best artists in the world ( Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Madonna... ) performed here, or maybe because the most famous "Happy Birthday Mister President" was sung here... or maybe it's because of other thousands of reasons ... but the Madison Square Garden truly is The World's Most Famous Arena.
How to get to the MSG
The entrance is located on the 7th Avenue, between the 31st and the 33rd, ( 34th Penn Station is the underground stop ). Outside the Garden is not so interesting, but once inside you hope you'll never go out!
What to do at the MSG
You can visit the MSG taking a guided tour ( $ 27 - Link ), but the best way to enjoy the Garden is taking part to a live event! You can choose among concerts or sport events, in particular during winter time you'll find NBA matches, College Basketball matches and NHL matches ( ice-hockey ), while during summertime you'll find WNBA matches ( female basketball ).
Go on http://www.thegarden.com/calendar for tickets and to know the scheduled events during your New York stay.
We were able to buy the ticket for an NBA match ( keep in mind that NBA tickets are easily sold out just after the new season NBA schedule is published in September ). Once you've passed through the security checks at the entrance, you find yourself in the MSG hall where shops and box office are located. Follow the stream and get to the escalator that will guide you to arena. You're in, read where you seat is and find your spot!
We decided to spend a bit more in order to be closer to the court ( Level 100 ). Top view, seats so comfortable that Federica had nap, free wifi and everything you need at hand. You can eat Italian, sushi, burgers, hot dogs, healthy food..., there many shops selling every gadget you want, there are fan corners taking care of the customers ... everything is nice, engaging and comfortable.
Taking part to a live event at the Madison Square Garden is a wonderful experience that we suggest you to do because it makes you feel a bit more a real NewYorker and it's a way to visit one New York landmarks.
