3 WEEKS ROAD TRIP IN NAMIBIA TO DISCOVER THIS WONDERFUL COUNTRY ALL AROUND
namibian road trip description
We are going to describe the itinerary of our 3 weeks road trip in Namibia that let us discover this amazing country starting from its capital city, Windhoek, where to spend the night after the long trip to get to Namibia. After leaving Windhoek, we started discovering Namibia clockwise reaching the Kalahari Desert and then the Fish River Canyon, the amazing little brother of the Grand Canyon. Here we spent 2 nights: the first one to recover from the long journey, the second one to visit the most important canyon in Namibia.
It's time to move westward towards the Atlantic coastline but, even though the tourist majority decides to reach Ludertiz, we wisely chose to spend two nights in Aus, where we were spoiled by truly amazing landscapes. We spent 2 more nights here, non only discovering the enchanting surroundings of our lodge but also visiting the ghost town of Kolmaskop and the small colonial town of Luderitz. From Aus the tour moves towards North, towards Sossusvlei and th Namib Desert, one of the highlight of this 3 weeks road trip in Namibia. You can spend two nights here in order to visit the amazing desert that will forever remain in your heart.
It's now time for Swakopmund a nice colonial city located between the Namib Desert and the Atlantic Ocean, the starting point for interesting boat trips looking for dolphins and seals and for desert trips that reach the amazing spot of Sandwich Harbor.
Leave Swakopmund to reach the Damaraland, the most authentic part of Namibia, where you can spend a night in the Erongo Mountains and at the amazing Grootberg Pass.
Finally the most important part of each African road trip: the safari. In the Etosha National Park you should spend at least 4 nights starting from the Western part, that we enjoyed the most, and finishing in the Eastern one. Last but not least, before going back to Windhoek, stop for a night at Okonjima where you can visit the AfriCat Foundation and its wonderful felines.
